I asked this of the FS++ team and here is the reply... Important to note that ATC does recognize my VA call sign 95% of the time. Here is an update!



"For customizing ATC, there is some misunderstanding, you can only choose an airline that does exist in the Microsoft voice pack. Depending on the version of FS you are using, for FSX look in the file called FSX_Airlines.txt, for FS2004, choose one from FS9_Airlines.txt

Sure you can say "RAINBIRD XXX", but because there is no recording for this airline in the Simulator voice pack, the reply would just include the flight number.

The only way I can see that happening, is if we edit the Microsoft voice pack. It is possible, but somewhat tedious. So it is not an option right now, but time permitting, a lot of things can happen.



Please note that I have put a "Rainbird" callsign into the system using "Edit Voice Pack." It now recognizes my sign AND calls it back as "RAINBIRD 123" or whatever number the flight is!

Nice to hear that RAINBIRD made its way to the voicepack so quickly.

In fact, discovered much later, and almost by accident, that there is a free tool, that lets you do just that, among other things
