PostSubject: VAFS Reconnect   Sat Jun 06, 2009 4:28 pm

I started a new flight this afternoon. While I was climbing to cruise altitude, I suffered a rare (for me) FS9 crash and it restarted. Autosave did its job and I selected the last saved position and continued the climb. However, I could not get VAFS to reconnect to FS9 via FSUIPC. As common as FS crashes are during flights, I can't imagine there isn't some functionality built in to reconnect, at least for a short period of time. So what's the trick? I only lost about 30 minutes of flight time ... I can't imagine the frustration to lose a long haul trip if it happened in the last 30 minutes!

I'll restart and fly it again, but I thought I would ask for future reference.

I second this inquiry.

I just had a minor power glitch which made my second PC restart and with it losing SB, AS and VAFS. No way to reconnect or continue an aborted flight in VAFS it seems.

Hi Guys,

If you have a CTD or other crash of FS after landing.... Leave VAFS open and restart FS... It will allow you to log the flight but it will show as a different Aircraft.. usually the default 172... the bonus is you keep the flight... It will then upload...

For early on crashes... well I don't honestly know... I will check with the forum over there and see if Mike (VAFS) knows the answer...

Jeff

Ya,

I just registered and checked the VAFS forum about clues. Apparently it seems VAFS3 was capable of resuming aborted flight.
As for the 'cheating' possibilities VAFS should be able to determine a legit abort like a CTD or abnormal shut down from a FS aircraft crash or user terminated flight. Programatically I do not see any problems with this.
