Avsim has cancelled FANCON 2009 in Dayton.

AVSIM's Board of Directors today voted to cancel the FANCON 2009 event. Due to poor in-advance registrations, the Board concluded that this year's event would not be a viable one. The Board of Directors regrets that this action has to be taken and apologizes to all who have planned to intend. If you have paid for your entry as either an attendee or as an exhibitor, your payment will be refunded in full. We will start issuing those refunds tonight. If you do not receive notice of your refund within the next ten days, please leave a note in the FANCON Forum and let us know. Again, our apologies for the cancellation. Hopefully, there will be a FANCON 2010.

At the same meeting today, the Board of Directors voted to hold our Fall Board of Directors meeting in Chicago over the weekend of October 9th, 10th and 11th. Tentatively, the BOD meeting will be held at the O'Hare Hilton and we will hold our traditional social on Saturday evening, the 10th. We will be posting more details on this as our plans firm up

I too was looking forward to it. Now pondering the social in October...

How are you getting to ORD? Driving or flying? If you're driving and are anywhere in the vicinity of PIT let me know and you can stop at the OCC on the way by.

Thanks for the invite Mike, but as you know I was a UAL customer for the weekend. We had a great visit Saturday night. I've been associated with You, Russ, and MidCon long enough that I'm known by first name by the senior AVSIM staff! Very cool NOT to have to introduce myself! For Mike and Russ, Tom and the Whitwells say "Hi", and are sorry you guys couldn't be there. As usual, we were the only VA on hand. There were about 15 folks in all, including the gent that does the FSBREAK podcast. I'll be talking with him later about promoting the VA community on his podcast. I was invited to join the staff for breakfast on Sunday, where we discussed some things I probably shouldn't mention in public, so Mike and Russ, if you want to know more, give me a call or drop me a line. Not to worry, a couple of Sam Adams were hoisted for you Mike!
