PostSubject: Tuning Voice Recognition   Sun Mar 01, 2009 4:20 pm

I believe I am one of the first MCE customers, and I've spent mucho time playing with various settings and techniques trying to get this to work as well as possible. After much correspondence and guidance from the guys at FS++, and a lot of trial and error, this is really now an amazing application. Possibly the greatest realizim boost ever devised for MSFS. Here are a few hints to make the most of this:

* Make sure your drivers for both your audio device and GPU are the latest. I was getting occasional application crashes and freezes until I upgraded my drivers. Since upgrading, zero problems.

* Try adjusting the Voice settings (SAPI) found in then under the Speech Recognition tab, choose SETTINGS. There are two sliders there and are default in the center. I found that by moving both slightly to the right, voice recognition is vastly improved in MCE. This will certainly vary from system to system, so experiment to see what works best for you. There are also sliders involved in the MCE Control Panel, under the COMMAND tab that effect recognition, but I find the default setting to work well.

If anyone has an questions about my experiences feel free to ask.

Hi Fleahead;

I would like to add a different 'voice' to MCE. I know that I can obtain some from the web but don't know how to add it to the sim or to the OP. I'm using XP. Any help is well appreciated.

Jim,

I added the Cepstral David voice to my XP installation. It makes a world of difference in my copilot.

The one issue though is that he talks fast when compared to the default Microsoft Sam and such. The developers are working on a permanent solution to deal with third party voice paceing varaiations.

best,

Hello armchair captains!

What are the best third party voices out there! I am keen on ones that pronounce numbers particularly well.

Thanks
