So Dogcreek... does your co-pilot occasionally go off his rocker and start responding to commands you never gave? He seems to have this thing about "FLAPS 40 and not to bother him as he can only do one thing at a time". He has even went so far as to accuse me of not caring about the passengers comfort. (I probably deserved that one). Anyway, I thought maybe external noise was triggering these outbursts, but my sim room is very quiet. He does pretty good at setting altitude, heading , and speed, as well as flipping various switches, but I can't get this guy to "SET FLAPS 5" or any number for flaps. He will answer to FLAPS UP ok but any other FLAPS commands seem to confuse him.

LOL.... Somehow I missed this earlier.... Good one...

I too have had the "set flaps" thing happen early on... I can still have my copilot disobey when I just say "flaps 5" or an initial call for flaps. I have no idea why this works but I have taken to saying "set flaps" and he will come back that he needs the setting (can't remember exactly what he says) and then I say "Set flaps 5" and he is fine the rest of the flight...

I will try some different methods when I fly next which should be today sometime..

Also a "stun gun" would probably get him to behave quite nicely Very Happy Very Happy

I just sent a report to support about MCE getting into a loop that just repeats:

> flaps 40 selected
> flaps 40 confirmed
> flaps 40 seleted
> flaps 40 confirmed
> am I bothered
> flaps 40 selected
> flaps 40 confirmed

It will repeat this 8-9 times. I can not interupt the loop once it starts. Maybe they can put in a "SHUTUP" command.

Still, I can not get any response from "FLAPS 5" or any other flaps commands other than "FLAPS UP". I have switched to another mike, redid the training, and even tried modifying my voice and tone. He simply will not respond to any other flaps commands.

Have you tried retraining the interactive commands... When I first started I had to train a couple of times to get him acting right.. Just a thought...
